Legal

These Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Content License apply to everyone who uses this site and its associated apps (the “Service”). “We” and “us” means the operator of this site. These policies are in effect now and apply to everyone who uses the Service.

Disclaimer

The Service is an educational service. Content, translations, guides and other material are prepared with care but are not guaranteed to be complete, accurate or up to date, and are not a substitute for professional advice. Content submitted by users is reviewed before publication, but we do not guarantee its accuracy or legality.

You can browse the site without an account. The Service does not currently support user accounts, user-submitted content, or have applications available on the Apple App Store or Google Play. The policies regarding Members, Contributions, Accounts, and Purchases below will apply if and when those features and apps become available.

Terms of Service

1. Purpose

These terms set out the rights and responsibilities of you and us when you use the Service.

2. Definitions

3. Changes to these terms

These terms take effect when published here. We will announce material changes at least 7 days in advance and may ask Members to agree to them again. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and close your account.

4. Accounts

Where the Service offers sign-in (for example through a third-party login provider), we receive your email address, name and account identifier from that provider. By signing in you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy and the Content License. We may refuse or remove an account that impersonates someone, uses false information or puts others at risk.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

6. Purchases

Paid features in the apps are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, whose terms (including refunds) apply to the purchase.

7. Review of Contributions

We (or people acting for us) review Contributions before they are published. We may reject, remove or hide, without notice, any Contribution that breaks these terms or the law, is reported as infringing someone’s rights, or is unrelated to the Service.

8. Your rights as a Member

You can hide or delete your Contributions at any time, although parts already cited by others may be kept. You can close your account at any time; your personal information is then handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is an educational tool and we do not guarantee the accuracy of its content. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

10. Changes to the Service

We may change the Service’s features and policies, or discontinue it. If we discontinue the Service, we will give at least 30 days’ notice and make reasonable efforts to let Members export their data.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where we are established. We will first try to resolve any dispute in good faith; if that fails, the courts of that place have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep any protections of your local law that cannot be waived, including in the EU/EEA and the UK.

Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

2. Why we use it

3. Service providers

We use trusted providers for hosting, databases, sign-in, analytics and app distribution. They process personal information only on our behalf, only for the task we give them, and in line with the GDPR and other applicable data-protection laws.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your personal information until you close your account. We then delete your identifying information (email, login identifier and display name) straight away, and anonymise or delete your Contributions as you choose. Where the law requires us to keep specific records for longer, we keep them separately for the required period.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We only disclose it with your prior consent or when the law requires it, such as a valid request from law enforcement.

6. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to restrict how we use it. When you close your account you can also ask us to delete your Contributions. Email us at the address below; you will not be treated differently for exercising these rights.

7. EU/EEA and UK residents (GDPR)

We are the data controller for your personal data. Lawful basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) when you create an account; legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for running, securing and improving the Service and preventing abuse.

Your rights: access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), and you can withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.

International transfers: we choose EU-based processing where available. Where data is processed outside the EEA or UK, safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions apply.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, or the minimum age set by the law where they live. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Content License

1. Scope

This policy applies to Contributions Members submit to the Service.

2. License you grant us

You give us a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to use your Contributions to operate, promote, back up and display the Service, and to reproduce, publish, adapt and translate them for the Service’s purposes. If others have already cited a Contribution, this license continues for those citations after you delete it.

3. Reuse by others

Contributions can be viewed freely within the Service, but anyone else needs our prior consent to reproduce, distribute or modify them, for commercial or non-commercial use; email us to ask. External links and their preview images remain subject to the copyright of the pages they come from. We may cache preview images for a limited time to keep the Service reliable, and remove cached copies promptly when a rights holder sends a valid takedown request.

4. Your promises

You confirm that you have the right to submit each Contribution, and that it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, image or reputation. You are responsible for any breach of these promises, and agree to hold us harmless.

5. Removal

You can hide or permanently delete your Contributions at any time. We may act on a Contribution without notice if it breaks this policy, is the subject of a valid complaint, or is subject to a legal demand.

6. Reports

Send reports of copyright or other rights infringement to the email address below. We review valid reports and act on them promptly.
